The Kaprain investment group today officially terminated negotiations regarding the acquisition of a 100% stake in the football club SK Sigma Olomouc.
Kaprain’s offer was financially attractive for both the seller and the club, and there was shared alignment on the future development of youth and professional football in Olomouc. However, Kaprain was ultimately forced to withdraw from the process due to fundamentally irreconcilable views on the contractual terms of the transaction. The primary sticking points concerned rights and obligations arising from the agreement for both parties – clauses that are considered standard both in the Czech Republic and internationally.
“It is simply unacceptable for the seller to disclaim all responsibility and attempt to transfer all risks to the buyer,” explained Ondřej Pechar, media spokesperson for Kaprain Group. He added: “Not only these efforts, but also the continuous escalation of the seller’s demands, regrettably give the impression that many of the club’s decision-makers never truly intended to sell. Under such circumstances, it is impossible for us to continue any further negotiations.”
