The Kaprain investment group has bought the site in the vicinity of the O2 Arena in Libeň from Howden ČKD Compressors. The brownfield site with an area of 53,000 square meters will be used to build a new full-fledged urban district, which should become the new center of Prague 9. The site is directly adjacent to the Harfa Business Center office complex, which Kaprain has developed in recent years.
“We have been involved in the development of Harfa in Prague since 2016, our headquarters is based here and it is also home to Sparta, the ice hockey club which is also part of the Group. We are therefore very happy to be one of the main drivers of the development of the entire urban district,” says the Group’s CEO Marcel Dostal about the motivation of the Group and adds: “In close cooperation with the municipal district, we will build a full-fledged and modern urban district here that will offer pleasant residential environment as well as a place to work and relax. It will certainly not lack a wealth of services, shops or amenities and greenery.”
The site of former ČKD factory with an area of 53,000 square meters is in close proximity to the O2 Arena, the Českomoravská metro station and the Prague-Libeň train station. The development of this area is therefore absolutely crucial for the future shape of the whole of district of Prague 9. The project will therefore be closely coordinated with the municipal district authority. “We are aware that we will create a new heart for Prague 9 and we take this challenge very seriously. Such an important project must respect the rules of modern urban development and at the same time be architecturally valuable,” says Dostal.
Kaprain Group has purchased the site from compressor manufacturer Howden ČKD Compressors, which moved the production to Nehvizdy in the Central Bohemia region in 2019. The company is part of Howden, a leading global compressor manufacturer with presence in 35 countries.
