HC Letci Letňany is a second-division ice-hockey club that was formed in 2001. It was founded by the brothers František and Vojtěch Kučera. The former won a gold medal at the Nagano Olympic Games, while the head of European scouting for the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL. Letňany has become famous for nurturing talent and national team players. Among the club’s successful alumni is Jakub Vrána, who joined the NHL in 2016/17 playing for Washington, and then in 2018 celebrated winning the Stanley Cup with the Capitals. Throughout its history, the club has had countless players in the national team’s youth squads; at the Under under-20 World Championships in 2021, there were four players from Letňany on the team. The club’s current achievements include a silver medal in the 2022/23 season.
